James Frew was formed in 1911 by the great grandfather of the present Managing Director, Roddy Frew. From modest beginnings the firm moved into plumbing and heating contracting particularly during the post war housing boom under the guidance of the founder's son Alexander Frew who controlled the firm from 1946 to 1975. In recent years the Chairman of the company Richard Frew has expanded the company and it now can offer a comprehensive range of building services solutions from maintenance and property upgrades to large mechanical installations.
The company works for most of the major private house developers, main contractors, and social housing providers and our maintenance services provide a full range of breakdown cover and servicing to the public and private sector including GasSure our comprehensive repair and service scheme and EcoSure which offers advice installation and maintenance of microgeneration renewable systems.
